Panel 1 (small): Close in of blood running off the edge of a sidewalk.

Panel 2 (black & white): Two people fighting. One is a skinny college age man, ALLEN, wearing a sweat jacket. The other is an attractive black woman, LUNA, of equal age, wearing casual clothing. They are in a family room, obviously Allen's from all the geeky junk.

Panel 3: ALLEN is laying on the sidewalk, the blood coming out of the back of his head. He looks as if he fell off his bicycle. He is alive and stirring.

Panel 4 (black & white): LUNA is heading out the door, yelling behind her. ALLEN stands beside a table, looking defeated. There is a newspaper on the table.

Panel 5: ALLEN is sitting up on the sidewalk, on hand clenched to his head. His eyes cringed in pain. There is light from a large building on fire across the street in front of him playing off his body, but their is no other indication of the fire.

Panel 6 (black & white): ALLEN staring down at a newspaper with this headline: “TERRORISTS THREATEN SUPER HEROES” The rest of the paper is not viewable.

I just started this flower. I need to finish the lines and make them stronger before starting to add value. I had to add strong contrast to the digital photo so that the lines of my HB pencil would show up, hence the yellow-ish paper look. I have found that HB really works well for me, since I have a heavy grip and the pencil is about right to produce a light line for me.

This was a practice in line thickness. It's a glove face. I surprisingly got compliments on this drawing, I thought it sucked, but the teacher especially liked the layout.

All in all, it kind of weirded me out to get compliments on it, but at the same time it was kind of awesome to hear both students and the teacher saying the liked it.

Sophos Moros

“Changes”

“You have got to be shitting me.” He muttered. The sound of his voice carried further than he expected, and a casual comment became a case of the giggles for the classmates around him. Faces turned towards him smiling and snickering.

Unfortunately the audience helped attract unwanted attention.

“Mr. Bromstein, do we have a problem?” Mrs. Ebbing asked from the front of the class room. Stuck in mid-writing, her chalk held still against the board and her back to the class. She had eyes everywhere and at some times seemed better and seeing things when she wasn't looking in your direction.

He started to say. “Of course we do, it's your god damn homework assignment over a three day weekend.” Somehow between his brain and mouth it translated to. “Umm... no...?”

“No? Then was the word you used an appropriate word to describe the homework assignment I am currently writing on the board?”

More giggling followed, everyone except for Darrin enjoyed the conversation. He frowned, hoping this torture would end soon.

“I ummm was just being descriptive of a uhmm situation that was not in kind with what I expected this three day weekend to be about.”

He wasn't quite sure what he said made sense but he was pleased with what he had said and his sudden use of diplomatic skills.

“Then perhaps we should analyze the sentence you just said for more examples of bull's excrement.” She responded.

This time the audience didn't giggle, they laughed, a few were so amused they even snorted.

“This assignment is not only for the benefit of everyone in this class but also for those poor souls who will be driving over the bridges or living in the sky-rises that individuals in this class room designed and engineered. Instead of waisting time with commentary about the assignments, you should instead be concentrating a little bit more on making sure you understanding what I am teaching.”

He opened his mouth, a reply came quick to his lips, one that would have surely gotten him detention. Somehow he managed to stop that response, and instead filtered it into something a little more appropriate.

“Yes Mrs. Eddings.” He said.

The words seemed to have satisfied her, and with a slight nod of her head and a bounce of her poofy brown hair, she continued writing the assignment out on the board. The 8 problems she had listed before had suddenly become 12.

A collective groan circulated through the class room, although it's life cycle was cut short by a short pause of Mrs. Ebbing's hand. Surely a threat to any more comments even if they were noises instead of words. Once the groan had been killed she finished writing out the assignment.

More than one student shot Darrin a hate filled look, blaming him for the increase in assigned problems His slight chat with Mrs. Ebbing did little to increase his social standing with his fellow students.

He shook his head, not caring what other people thought of him. Turning back to his notebook, he continued working on the art project before him. The sketch was quickly taking the likeness on of a monstrous Mrs. Ebbing flinging her physics about in the natures of black holes with ghoulish faces and stars with deadly teeth. He had just decided she would look even better with a sky-rise being crushed between her teeth.

Almost complete, it would soon be a masterpiece worthy of being posted in Facebook. Judging from how many students actually liked Mrs. Ebbing versus hated, he imagined it would quickly become quite a popular picture.

As he drew a cold wind crept across the back of his neck. He shivered in response, goosebumps forming along the back of his head. Looking up he failed to see any source for such a breeze, Bob Bigglestone sat behind him, and being in the neighborhood of 400 pounds, he was quite thoroughly eliminated from the lists of possible culprits. The boy could barely breathe let alone emit a gust of air. Besides, he thought, if it was Bob breathing down his neck, that would be unnecessarily creepy.

Something did catch his eye though, something that was quite a bit more pleasant than Bob. Across the room from him, sitting demurely, yet with a coy grin upon her lips was Hellen Singer. Her beautiful brown eyes stared at him.

He swallowed the lump in his throat and looked away, unable to hold her stare. Gorgeous blond hair sat upon a face that looked to be sculpted or drawn, so perfect where it's angle, eyes large and lips luscious, she was by far the most beautiful woman in school and she knew it. Decked out in barely school legal clothes, she had a way of teasing every boy with her short skirts and tight tops. Bouncing from class to class in the hallway, she inevitably left behind a long line of staring boys, most with their mouths hung open. Geeks like Darrin not only did not have any chance of ever talking to her, but they were also kept back by the host of fellow cheerleaders and infatuated foot ball players guarding her like a living shield.

Darrin slowly looked back up at her, finding her attention diverted away from him.

They had once been friends when they were younger, she only lived a few blocks away from him. Yet something happened when they got into highshool, they both put on weight. Her weight was centered on her large blossoming breasts, while his centered around his stomach as he gained a paunch. While her developments gained her popularity and adoration, Darrin's gained him isolation and typecasting as a nerd and a geek.

He couldn't even look her in the eyes these days, having to pawn away time staring at her from afar.

“Mr. Bromstein why is it that you feel you not only have the capability to comment on the assignments I give, but also that you can selectively listen to my lectures?” Mrs. Ebbing said, her voice skittering over him, like a spider crawling on his face.

Turning away from Hellen, he found Mrs. Ebbing standing at the front of class, slowly slapping a ruler against the palm of her open hand. If it wasn't for the old green dress she was wearing, he might have actually been intimidated.

“Ummm... I was just admiring the new classroom paint...” He said.

She didn't seem amused.

“and the physics of it?” He added, hoping he could get her countenance to crack If he could at least get her to grin then perhaps he might get off the hook.

A smile did appear, not the kind he hoped though. It was like the devil's type of grin

“Mr. Bromstein that sounds like a terrific idea, outside of the homework I gave you over the three day weekend, why don't you follow that thought up with writing a 5 page paper describing how paint chemically bonds to materials.”

“But... but... that has nothing to do with physics...”

“And neither does the classroom wall or for that matter Mrs. Singer.”

His world seemed to shrink and his face grew warm, his secret crush torn from the world of gossip mongers to the public. Surrounded as he was by his fellow classmates he had no place to look with out seeing smiles, snickers, and gawks. No place to hide.

Dropping his gaze from Mrs. Ebbing he stared at his book full of doodles.

She had no right.

No right to do what she did.

No right!

Vile old bitch!

Something clicked.

Something changed.

A spark lit upon his spirit, setting it ablaze.

“Bitch...” He said, the words coming from deep with in. The fire clawing it's way out.

Silence followed.

Nobody giggled, nobody laughed.

The pencil in his hand wobbled on it's own, dancing to his anger.

The bell rang, the only thing that had the nerve to make any noise. Yet unlike most days, today nobody moved. Nobody dared to stand.

“Mr. Bromstein” Mrs. Ebbing said. “What did you just say?”

“Bitch.” He replied. “I called you a bitch.”

He looked up from his book, seeing her face grow red. She sputtered no words coming from her mouth.

Giving up on vocalizing her anger, she pointed towards the door and stomped her foot. Never before had she been giving to this form of non-verbal communication, yet the class knew what she said and they obeyed. As one the left, they stampeded out of the room as fast as possible, leaving only Darrin and Mrs. Ebbing, leaving only the combatants.

The pencil in his hand shifted, it wobbled, it skewed from side to side as if it wanted free of his grip. It barely registered amongst the anger in his heart and the heat in his head.

As soon as the room was vacant, she closed the door, sealing them inside, sealing any possible audience outside. Turning around she practically ran towards him, as fast as her short legs could carry her with out actually running, metric ruler held in her hand like a sword. Rage was in her face, and pain in her grip. Raising the ruler above her, she loomed it over him, ready to deliver upon him a smack across his head. Time slowed as her hand came down.

He never blinked.

She never had a chance.

The pencil rocketed from his palm. It collided with the ruler on it's way down and drove it from her hand. Almost faster than the eye could see it carried the weapon across the class room and nailed the ruler to the chalkboard.

They turned towards the chalkboard and almost as one gasped. Darrin forgot his anger then, unsure of what just occurred, he was filled only with shock and curiosity. He didn't throw that pencil, he didn't launch it at her, it had launched itself.

When Mrs. Ebbing turned back, he could see from her face, that she thought he had thrown it at her. That he had launched a preemptive attack before she could smack him with her ruler, an action, if witnessed would have gotten her fired.

Her blow had never landed, yet his pencil had been launched at her.

She practically screamed.

“DETENTION!”

Summary: Ash buys a golf club to fight the deadites with.
Author's Notes: Never really wrote a fan fic before. I just wanted to see if I could create dialog that seemed like something Ash would say. It is a very silly story, and was just a quickie I wrote. There may be spelling and grammar errors, I still need to look over it some. I'm gonna post it to the brucefic group soon.

“Yeah yeah yeah, what else you got?” Ash asked, becoming annoyed with the salesman.

“Sir, I have already told you I don't carry chain saws, I don't carry shotguns, all I have is golf clubs, golf clubs, and golf clubs.” Bob raised his hands, showcasing the fine selection of designer golf clubs behind him.

“Look buddy...” Ash began, wanting to trash the ninny and his selection of golf clubs in a torrent of hostile wit. He ended though in a completely different shade, realizing he really didn't have any choice if he was gonna get a weapon from Bob. “Just give me that nine iron.” He pointed to a very dangerous looking golf club. He didn't care which one he got as long as it was big enough and heavy enough to do some serious damage.

“Perfect choice, sir. That particular one is made of a titanium composite.” He brought it down from the rack and sat it on the counter in front of him.

“Yeah... I know... that's why I picked it.” Ash lied.

Bob wrung up the golf club at the cash register. “Do you wish to have this gift wrapped?” He asked.

“No I don't wish to have it gift wrapped, and can we hurry it up some bud? It's not like its the end of the world or anything.”

The salesman's speed did not seem to increase at this point, if anything it seemed to slow down considerably after the comment.

“Come on, come on, pal, I have seen old ladies move faster than you.”

“Sir, if you keep putting me down, I'm going to have to ask you to leave the store.” Bob said, stopping any progress in getting Ash the golf club.

Ash sighed. “Ok, ok, all ready, I'll be quiet.”

The man looked doubtful.

“I promise. Look cross my heart.” He made a cross shaped gesture over his heart.

“Thank you.” Bob said returning to his task at hand.

Ash rolled his eyes as soon as Bob's attention was diverted. He need that club today, and it was taking until next week to get it.

Finally the man handed the club to Ash. Ash swung the club around a bit, feeling it's weight and balance.

“Yeah... yeah... this feels good.” He said. Maybe he could actually do some damage to the deadites. It wasn't his old chain saw, but at least it wouldn't fall apart when he would forget to oil it regularly.

“That will be $1,299.86.” Bob said. “Will that be cash, check, or credit?”

Ash stopped swinging the very expensive club.

“Wh...what did you...” Ask coughed. “How much is this metal stick again?”

“$1,299.86” Bob repeatedly merrily.

Of course he is happy. Ash thought. He can close shop for a week if he sells one of these babies.

Ash put the club down gently on the counter top, and pulled out his wallet. The void that had never really contained any cash in it's life still sat empty, and his credit cards had been stolen by a she-demon in another dimension. For all he knew by know he had bought several pairs of expensive shoes for a woman with four breasts, eight arms, and too many ways to seduce a fellow and get him to lower his guard.

Ash looked at the eager Bob.

“Well Bob.” Ash licked his dry lips. “What uhh... How much are those other ones.”

“What other ones?” Bob asked.

“Ummm those one over there.” Ash pointed towards the far corner. Bob turned around and moved to the far corner, trying to see which golf clubs Ash was pointing at.

With Bob distracted, Ash grabbed the club and ran out of the store.

$1,299.86 for a club he was going to use to save the fat man's world. Bob has to be crazy.Ash thought, trying to put some distance between him and the store. From behind him, Ash heard the tell tail ding-dong noise made by someone opening Golf World's door. Looking back, he saw Bob running after him waving his arms over his head.

“Oh for the love of...” Ash stuttered, struggling to put more space between him and Bob.

He ran through the parking lot, heading back towards the heart of the city where a very large and unusual shaped purple and pink tornado was lurking, spitting out all manner of strange lightning and odd phenomena.

Not only did Ash not manage to lose Bob, but the fat man gained on him.

“He must be using steroids or something.” Ash muttered, huffing and puffing, trying to stay ahead.

“Look Bob.” Ash yelled. “Your just gonna...” He gulped air. “get yourself killed” He gulped more air. “you had better turn around.” His stamina was waining, long runs were just not his sort of thing.

“Sir, you need to pay for that!” Bob yelled back.

Ahead of him the tornado loomed ever closer, he was only a few more blocks away from it and what ever other monstrosities it would be spewing out about now. He had to get to the book at the tornado's center, that waas causing all this crap and stop the damn thing while there was still time and he still had breath to do it with.

Ash stopped, huffing and puffing for air, he leaned over putting hands on his knees and tried to recover.

Bob quickly caught up with him, seemingly un-phased by the quick jaunt.

“Sir...sir...” Bob said. “You forgot to pay for that club, we need to go back to the store.”

“Ummm... listen here Bobby.” Ash replied. “I got to use this club see, to knock out the things that is guarding that large twister of evil behind us. Can't you, you know, just bill me for it?”

“I'm sorry sir, we can't bill you, but we do have a lay away plan, just in time for the holi” Bob's voice was cut short as a hand suddenly exploded out of his chest. It opened and closed, covered in Bob's innards.

“Oh my goodness.” Bob said, before expiring.

Bob's blood covered Ash, who grimly wiped his eyes clear and squinted at the deadite as it removed it's arm from Bob's chest.

“Sweet sweet souls!!!” It yelled, licking Bob's innards from it's hand and glaring at Ash. What once may have been a woman now sported red skin, a dead face, and smelled like hell in a microwave. Large yellow teeth ringed it's mouth, and crooked claws lined it's hands.

“Son of a....” Ash yelled, swinging the club at the things face. He shattered it's teeth and cracked it's skull. The force of the blow toppled it on it's side. It laid there on the ground holding it's broken face in pain.

“You'll never stop us.” It muttered through clenched jaws.

“This is for Bob you over grown toilet bag.” Ash swung the club again and again, destroying the remains of the deadites head, and spreading brain goo all over himself and the club. He wasn't appeased until the thing stopped twitching.

Looking over at Bob, he sighed. “Sorry Bobby, I...I tried to warn ya.”

The sound of a large pack of deadites approaching the area, drew his attention, their moans and cries for soul swallowing too distinct to be anything else. They were some ways off, but quickly covering the distance between them and Ash, possibly having been drawn by the fragrance of fresh souls, or Bob's departing words.

With another innocent dead, more deadites on the way, and another damned book causing problems it was just another day in the life of Ash. He lifted the golf club above his head, and charged the deadites.

Dreams

I often use my dreams as a source for inspiration for both my writing and my drawings. My dreams tend to range from fantastical sequences of a story line to down right strange. Squirrels have attacked people, zombies have chased me and friends through strange halls, and Jason found out want it meant for me to turn into a werewolf.

So saying all that, you can imagine my distress when I have a dream that is normal in it's content and based on events that could actually transpire. It was about my parents opening up a portable food shop, that they plan on using to help pay for their many vacataions. The small trailer, that would be pulled behind my father's rather large truck, doesn't even have a bathroom, and I can picture them cuddled up and freezing at night sleeping in the damned thing, that is parked half way to nowheresville. Then during the day they would cook in it, selling my mother's maid rite recipe to hundreds of customers and be happy as they can be.

Yes... my parents are now both retired...

NaNoWriMo Day 2

I am up to around 2,000 words, actually more like 2,800, but 800 don't count because I had written them before NaNoWriMo started. My story is going very very well so far. I decided to do a rewrite of my old Zombie story, the one located in Macomb. I am adding some scenes to make it more of a novel then the comic book format I had before. I already have mental notes about sequels to this story I would like to write. The nice thing about having weird friends, is that I have plenty of matierial to work with. :)

If I get too stuck in this novel, or get it done ahead of time I may end up re-writing Vanish Night, which was my novel for NaNoWriMo two years ago. I have ideas that will fix the plot holes that I saw in it. I also have a very cool scene re-write involving when Dave first sees the dragon Blasphemous.

I may end up going tonight to a cafe and writing and perhaps every day I am in Champaign I miay be found at a cafe writing, we shall see.

When I first moved to Champaign, I created a list. Well that's not right... Before I first moved to Champaign, I created a list. A list detailing the trillions of little tasks that needed to be accomplished before I could say that I officiall live in Champaign. These tasks, these merciless unforgiving jobs, ranged from re-painting a room in my old house to selling the old house to moving to Champaign to acquiring all the necessities of every day life and physical tune ups that one needs where ever they live. Well today I finally got the last thing on my list, the last task has been checked off. I got a dentist.

I know this may seem minimal and inconsequential to most, but when ever I move to town I make sure I always get a vet, a dentist, a bank, an eye doctor, and a regular doctor. Although the regular doctor usually waits until I get sick, since I still have a doctor back where my parents live for emergencies or occasional check ups.

I feel no different today, perhaps because I have already accepted the fact I am a Champaign-ion... or is it a Champaign-ite, or what ever I am. This town synergies readily with the ions of creativiy popping in my head, drawing me to call this mass of people and houses my home

I actually have more practice drawings than I am putting up here these days. I am getting a little more critical of which ones I publish to the public peeps. All in all I am progressing. I think Cafe Aroma down on Neil street has become my chosen drawing place.

November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo, www.nanowrimo.org). The whole premise is that you challenge yourself to write a 50,000 words on any type of novel in one month's time. I will be participating for the 3rd time this year, so far I have completed this once. I am very excited, this time there is a huge group of fellow writers in Champaign that I will get a chance to meet and work with. This will be a whole different experience for me.

Gonna post a random picture I drew while in a coffee shop in Macomb. It was mainly so I could look at hashing and lines a little bit more, as well as practice my own lines. I plan on doing this sometime in the next few days.

I have started another new story. This one based upon an old short story I wrote about a magical cat and what it would do to get free of the house where it is bound. I should have the first chapter up some time in the next week or two.

I also plan on adding links to the two books I am using to learn how to draw from, that should be Wednesday by the time I get around to that.

Male Elf Full Drawing

Week two of training myself to draw!!! Motivation is good, although free time seems to be getting more and more convoluted and unavailable.

I did a full drawing, not a free drawing since the image was not my own, but one that carried out the stick figure through a wire mesh and into a real person. That is if you can call a male elf a real person. The full body image didn't turn out very well. The individual face turned out a lot better. I think I need to start learning to draw bigger. The full figure would probably have turned out a lot better if I would have blown it up to a size relative to the large head on the bottom left. Musculature looks ok... not the best, but it follow some muscle lines. The figure's proportion seems all right too, although I'm not terribly happy with it. I think the body is a little disproportionate along with the upper left shoulder. I am happy with the hands, although they are not perfect, they at least look like hands. Same thing with the feet. I think the hair on the big head is about the best I have ever drawn.

No homework on this topic for now. Although I still have to draw a landscape and use hash shading yet.

I'm also pasting up my dynamic stick figures from a few days ago. They are starting to turn out better than the week before.

My writing is way behind. It seems I have a harder time scheduling it than I do with my drawing, and when I do find time to do it I can't always write. I can't always get into the flow of things, but I am gonna try harder next week to get writing in.

Hand Control and Technique Week 1

Hand control seems like it is going to be hard to achieve than I thought. It seems like I am not too bad at shading, keeping the lines the same amount apart, yet I am not too good at keeping them the same length. Things are progressing slowly, as they always do for the first week or two. It seems to take me a bit before I have that sudden lurch forward, I have a horizontal path before the steep part of the learning curve.

I find the different types of hatching very fascinating, especially when applied in mass to one drawing. It is very interesting how everything blends together to provide both texture and shadow.

I am actually behind on this practice I completed today, due to things in my life, hopefully future ones will not be behind. Next week I plan on trying to draw a landscape using different types of lines and hatching that I practiced this week. Then after that I will return to practicing the hatching itself.

Day 1 of My Trying to Learn How to Draw

I retreated to Borders today after work, I figured the relaxed atmosphere combined with some tea would provoke me to stay on schedule. However I failed to take into account book browsing which easily killed an hour of my time and a good $50 of my money. I did finally make it to a table, complete with tea in hand. Today I worked on Dynamic Stick Figures, which turned out ok. I have scanned in the accompanied drawings.

Total Time Practiced: 30 Minutes

Figures Drawn: 15-ish, some not shown

Positives: Starting to get a better sense of poses, especially the shoulders and torso relationships. The upper shoulder is very fascinating, trying to figure out how much is actually showing to the perspective and how much is hidden. To me, this seems to help sculpt the torso itself and what angles of it are seen. I also try to embrace using curves to draw arms and legs.

Negatives: Still too edgy, not getting into the zone. This happens sometimes, especially when ideas and creativity are popping. I can have a hard time focusing on just one thing. I also try to draw way to damn fast.

Looks like I am free of an obligatory drawing until Sunday, which is Free Drawing.

The garden enjoyed a peace bliss, the type of quiet only known when only the cricket sisters, their million strong sang and no other sound could be heard, except perhaps the gradual whisper of the moon as it streaks across the sky. The rows of the garden were neatly ordered, the Farmer God having been on bended knees, strong hands sowing every last seed with love. The vegetables themselves lived in a peaceful society in-frequently bothered but never shattered by the occasional youth who thought they could whip up the veggies and rebel against their Farmer God. It was because of these annoyances that the Officer had eventually been created. They dealt with all the problems and issues, from helping find lost sprouts, to keeping the peace. They had never been called into anything more serious than that, that is until now.

“Cobs” Officer Kernel shouted towards his half dim witted friends in arms, fellow corn that had yet to mature.

“Yes Captain.” They all resounded as a group, well almost all, except tiny greenhorn Buddet, she lay still on the ground, half way between fainting and fleeing. Luckily the rest where veterans and could swallow even the most astounding scenes, even one as vicious as this.

“I want you all to form a perimeter and hang some leaves and such. I want know one else seeing this... this slaughter.”

“Yes Captain.” They again replied, each one swarming off to do their duty.

He kneeled down, making sure to avoid touching any of the looming innards that were abounds. Around him the rich earth was bathed in red, gooey pieces of ripped flesh and seeds, mixed equally with the stained leavings of green, the poor tomato still being connected to it's vine.

Or it would have been. Kernel thought to himself. If it was still in one piece.

Muttered and dim thoughts filled his head. It had been a long time since any of the vegetables in this garden had been done up like this. It was one thing to meet the end of one's life on the dinner table of the Farmer God, but another to kill each other.

Why? Why would someone do this? Kernel wondered to himself.

“Right, well I imagine someone will be having quiet a filled tummy tonight.” A familiar voice croaked beside him. “I suppose you want me to give you a synopsis of this...” A small green scaled hand reached out and snagged a chunk of the tomatoes flesh, bring back to it's mouth and gulping it down before Kernel could even being to scold the scabby Lizard.

Rounding himself about, he turned and confronted the beast. A beast that serves it's purpose. He reminds himself. The Lizard stood looking at him, smacking it's red stained lips. A slight glint of further menace an almost unperturbed thought of snacking on corn seeming to arise and quickly recede to the depths of it's eyes, eyes that never both settled on the same spot. One currently focused ahead at Kernel and the other watching the various Cobs put up strings of vines and hanging up leaves around them.

“I wish you would wait until the curtains are up.” Kernel scowled.

“And I wish you would have the decency to season one self, or perhaps thrown oneself on the fire, before I come to the crime season. Now wouldn't that be a good one, a self seasoning tomato, would almost taste like ketchup.”

“The Cobs are almost done, you will refrain yourself from any further... consumption until then.”

Lizard nods his head in agreement.

“I will be waiting for you on the outside” With out waiting for any further agreement, Kernel slides through the last gap between the leaves, right before the Cobs complete their obfuscation of the crime scene. Once done they surround their Kernel glancing at him with eager eyes.

Like the commander he is, order immediately started rolling off of his tongue. “Yellow, I want you to take Buddet back to the Plant House and give her some nice soil to rest in. Sweet and Pop, I want you both to stay here and guard the scene until the Lizard is done. The rest of you are dismissed. A collective groan from the last 5 Cobs resounded around the Kernel. He turns his back to them ignoring the protest.

He chews on his lower corned lip, deep in thought. It had to be that dastardly Celery! Who else would feast upon another vegetables. Once I catch that rotten green, I am going to see him served to the rabbit hordes about and ripped leaf from leaf.

It does not take long for the Lizard to finish. Soon his head pops out of the parted leaves, a few seeds sticking to his lips here and there.

“Well?” Kernel asks, anxious to proceed further. Behind him the two Cobs glance nervously at each other, neither one having much experiencing with the eaters of the dead.

The Lizard licks it's lips, one final attempt at clearing itself of the stuck seeds, a very unsuccessful attempt. “I don't know.” It croaks.

“What!? What do you mean 'I don't know'?”

“I have a side taste of something gruesome, but it is something I have never had before, therefor 'I-don't-know'.”

Kernel taps his foot, anxious and upset, he gazes straight into the beast's eyes. Lesser vegetables had been known to wither under that gaze of Kernels, even the mighty field mouse poacher of 2004 had turned and ran, and that had been with only one of Kernel's eyes.

The eyes of the Lizard both look away, neither one daring to fix upon the frightening display of this singular powerful piece of corn.

“Ok...ok...” Lizard gives in. “I may not know what this piece of thing is, but I do know one other thing. One thing or plant to be more precise it can't but at the same time it is slightly flavored with....” The Lizard pauses, one eye finally gaining enough courage to look at the Kernel. It finds it self caught in those deadly beams of radiance, and quickly changes target to the side, taking in the Cob called Pop.

“Roses.” Lizard smacks his lips, definitely roses.” He smacks his lips. “or my grand-mother was a toad.”

Kernel's stare never drops, never dims, wanting to make sure that he has received every last bit of information. Yet no more information comes forth, the Lizard seemingly empty of information.

Kernel swings north. “Pop, Sweet, follow me.” He says, walking directly towards the out most boundary of the garden.

The two Cobs fall in line, one on each side.

“Sir! Sir.” Cries Sweet.

“Yes?”

“The roses, sir. They are outside of your jurisdiction. We can't go out there.”

Kernel stops. Twisting around to face his two officers. The casual Pop seeming non the perplexed by Kernel's sudden about face and the always nervous Sweet almost shaking in his leaves.

“If either of you have a problem with where we are going, then consider yourselves dismissed.” Having delivered his ultimatum, Kernel swings around, neither caring nor needing any response from his subordinates. He plows on, the shuffle of both Cobs feet still behind him.

Real World Adventure Ideas

I often read the news, some would almost say I am obsessed with keeping up on news topics. I often come across unusual news articles about situations that would make excellent topics for either a story or for a role playing game.

Here are two past examples:

1) Russian Meteorite Stolen
Obviously the Meteorite is either an egg for an super intelligent flesh eating alien or can be made into a weapon that can cut through steel coated refrigerators.
2) Japanese Lake Goes Missing
Either a super thief who knows no bounds or a mad genius whose new weapon can make vast lakes of water disappear.

Today I have come across a third situation, one that is unique to America. Some would say this doesn't quite hold the avent garde as the previous two, but it is one that could only happen in America.
